The state of South Carolina is offering free internet hotspots and internet service to eligible homes with school-aged children. Families without an Internet connection in their homr may qualify for this free, need-based service. The state is providing funding for the service from August – December.
This is a need that won’t go away after the pandemic, even though the free internet program only runs until December of this year. The District hopes it will continue into future school years.
District 7 is helping approximately 600 students to receive the service. The deadline to register was Friday. July 31.
Each district in Spartanburg had a different timeline on the deadline for signing up.
